    Default STEPPER COST

    HI,

Steppers Rs.50 old Computer junk. Free if you have, BegBorrow an old Floppy drive (3'' or better 5" Floppy drive)
Rs. 750/- and above new. Cost based on make, Phases, voltage and current.
    1. Servos cheapest Rs 800/- and above. All imported stuff used for RC models.
    2. DC Servo motors industrial have no built-in electronics, except a Tacho sensor. These will cost in thousands.
    Cheapest come out of Printers.
I will upload pics of some motors tomorrow at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bangalorerobotics/

Stepper and servo motors are used when you want the motor to turn a specific angle. Since you can control the angle to which they rotate, you can also control the motors speed and acceleration.

They are mainly used in robots in which you need to know how much the robot has traveled on the ground.

Stepper motors can turn 360 degrees while a servo motor can turn a only a certain angle, which is usually usually 180 degree.

Servo motors can be modified to rotate 360 degrees, but the angle through which modified servos rotate cannot be controlled rather the speed at which they rotate can be controlled.
