    Default Problems with L293D. It's getting HOT !

    Hello!

    Im using L293D to control 2 brushed motors with gearboxes which is mounted in the base of some chinise tank stuff.

    So, how can i solve this problem?

    Is this IC have a replacement with the same pinout but more powerful ?

    Yes there is one IC with better current ratings and the same pinout configuration. The IC is 754410

    Hi,
    Has anyone tried stacking two L293Ds one above the other to get more output current?? This works in most cases.

    yup tried that.. nearly gives upto 800-900mA

    Some data about platform:

    1.25A when i hold it in air and truckcka go ahead or backward or it turns.

    600mA per channel in "idle". Is it normal for L293D?

    Yes even I have tried putting L293Ds in Parallel.........Well I have wierd idea in mind.

    I have made a PCB layout which has sockets for 8 L293D all in parallel, so it can be considered as a board which can support upto 8X600mA per channel !

    And look at the flexibility.....you plug in as many L293D in the socket as you need and leave the other sockets empty

    I know this is not at all a good way to make a motor driver but what to do if your traditional H-Bridge configurations with MOSFETs keep ditching you every now and then

    What you guys got to say on this wierd idea ? All suggestions and objections are welcome

    parallel... hm it seems too expensive... but what about 600ma... its per channel or not ?
